Nelly McClung and the Person's Case

Nelly McClung was a social activist in the early 1900's who pushed for equal rights for women.


One of the main reasons why Nelly McCLung is a "civic role model" is because of her Person's Case. In this Person's Case, Nelly fought for the rights of women.

Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama is considered to be the spiritual and political leader of Tibet and currently, Tenzin Gyatso, a 73 year old Tibetan man, holds the title although he has been exiled.
The Dalai Lama is considered to be a "civic role model" because he is known around the world as a symbol of the struggle for freedom. Not only is he fighting for his own people, but he is fighting for people around the world. The Dalai Lama has won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.

Terry Fox Role Model


Name: Terry Fox

1. Who is he? (One sentence.)
2. Why is he a "civic role model"? (Three sentences.)

Terry Fox was a young man from Coquitlam, B.C., who had cancer and attempted to run across Canada with one leg to raise money for the disease that killed him at age 22.

Terry Fox is a "civic role model" because he did something no one else had done. In order to raise money for cancer he attempted to complete a run across Canada; completeing a marathon equivalent each day. As well, he established The Marathon of Hope, a foundation dedicated to raising money for cancer research.
